'The Collective Works of Heather Lynn Harris'
Artist will be present at Opening Reception
Heather began her love for art at age five when her mother encouraged her creativity by sending her to art classes at the Memorial Art Gallery in her hometown of Rochester, NY. She continued to pursue art through private instruction in middle school and art classes in high school. She knew she wanted to have a career in art, but like many artists, fear of starvation made her pursue a degree in a field that could offer her greater financial stability. After gaining a degree in Marketing and a Masters in Business Administration she went on to pursue a rewarding career in marketing while continuing to create art in her spare time. She knew art would always play an important role in her life and continued to nurture it until the time was right.
After the birth of her son, followed a few years later by the birth of boy-girl twins, a swell of artistic energy caused Heather to decide to return to her first love, art. She dedicated herself full time to the study and creation of art. She spent the last ten years experimenting with charcoal, acrylics, oils, pastels, and pen and ink, gaining an appreciation for each medium. She improved herself through practice, private instruction, workshops, and recently she embarked on formalizing her skill as an artist through a Masters of Fine Arts degree at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. She paints landscape, still life, figure and portrait, but her favorite subject is the human form and she enjoys creating art that tells a story.
As a Co-Founder of Redfish Art Studios, she orchestrated and curated many art shows, as well as led art excursions to the South of France where artists have been inspired and renewed in their passion for creating art.
Over the past five years Heather has experienced tremendous growth as an artist and has been thrilled to receive two second place awards for her oil paintings in juried shows. Now in her own studio space, Heather is focusing on figurative work, illustration and private instruction. Her work can be found in private collections in Western New York.
